Mercedes-Benz disassembles several thousand vehicles every year. These vehicles each contain between 25-30 kg of wiring harnesses that would be ideal to process for recycling purposes. The main issue however is that these wiring harnesses are attached to one another with sticky electrical tape which hinders the quick separation.
By working together with Guidetti, a system was developed whereby the glue in the electrical tape was neutralized which enabled easier separation of wire insulation from copper wire.
